Travel in air-conditioned comfort in our purpose-built 4WD vehicle, experiencing some of the most amazing scenery and natural beauty in Australia. Our journey takes us along The Great Barrier Reef Drive from Cairns. The road hugs two World Heritage-listed areas, the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics Rainforest.Cross the Daintree River by cable ferry for a leisurely drive through this ancient land. Enjoy the magic of the rainforest en route as you indulge in tasty homemade scones with jam and cream and sip on fresh local Daintree Tea or coffee.

Your experienced guide will enlighten your journey with fascinating stories and history as we continue along the famous 4WD-only Bloomfield Track, the site of one of Australia’s biggest environmental protests.

Next stop is the Bana Yirriji Art and Cultural Centre, Wujal Wujal, which is located on the banks of the Bloomfield River. Here, you will have the opportunity to visit and talk with local Indigenous artists before lunch.Our journey continues north to the infamous Lions Den Hotel, one of Queensland's landmark pubs, built in 1875, made of timber and iron. Then it’s a short distance to see theunique geological oddity, “Black Mountain”; one of Australia's most restricted habitats for endemic fauna, shrouded in mystery and spoken of in Aboriginal legend. 

You will arrive in historic Cooktown in the early afternoon where we visit Grassy Hill for panoramic views of Cooktown, the Coral Sea and Endeavour River. Be sure to have your camera ready!

You will then have up to two hours free time to explore Cooktown as you wish. Take a stroll down the main street or visit the world class James Cook Museum (seasonal opening). Enjoy the stunning scenery and experience the present day appeal and intriguing heritage of this iconic town.

Your return journey along the Mulligan Highway offers diverse landscapes through cattle stations and the Palmer River goldfields region, rich in history of the gold rush era. Enjoy a meal break before your day of adventure comes to a close and you are transferred to your accommodation.

The afternoon tour begins at the water’s edge, gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. Travel in air-conditioned comfort with your local guide; step inside St. Monica’s Cathedral where you will marvel at the world’s largest themed stained-glass windows. Explore Cairns and delve into the city’s history. Immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage that is the Far North.

Visit Cairns Museum at the School of Arts Building, in the heart of the city. You will be greeted by a dedicated guide for an exclusive tour of the museum (free re-entry included, valid for 3 days). Continue to Cairns Flecker Botanic Gardens to discover the unique flora of the tropics. Enjoy a guided walk in the gardens before a delicious Devonshire Tea in beautiful tropical surrounds.

After refreshments, your guide will lead you back to the air-conditioned vehicle for an exploration of Cairns’ scenic surrounds. The first stop is a scenic city lookout, so have your camera at the ready. Next, visit Lower Barron Gorge National Park and Surprise Creek Falls where there are plenty more photo opportunities.

Continue on to Palm Cove, one of Cairns’ most picturesque northern beaches. Walk along the jetty or feel the sand between your toes on Palm Cove beach before the tour concludes. You will be returned to your accommodation in the Northern Beaches or Cairns City at the end of the tour.
